Face Fit Testing should be carried out on all respiratory protective equipment that is required to be worn in harmful environments. With quantitative face fit testing, specialised equipment is used to ensure that the particular face mask worn by a particular individual has a tight seal and is correctly fitted to the wearer. The test is carried out under a number of controlled exercises to demonstrate the level of performance of the mask giving a more stringent pass or fail.

Course Overview
Prerequisites
(Qualitative) Personnel undertaking Face Fit Testing must refrain from eating, drinking (except, still, unflavoured water) and chewing gum for at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled testing time.
(Quantitative) Personnel undertaking Face Fit Testing must refrain from smoking (including the use of e-cigarettes) for at least 60 minutes prior to the scheduled testing time.
Any PPE (other than RPE) which may at some time be worn in the workplace (including safety goggles, hard hat, visors etc) must also be worn during a fit test as these may interfere with a face-to-face piece.
Face Fit Testing contains several moderate exercises, therefore personnel undergoing testing are required to be medically fit.
You must be clean shaven on the day of your face fit test, with no stubble. Stubble has been shown to significantly reduce the effectiveness of the test; therefore, if facial hair is present on arrival, the test may not be able to go ahead.

Anyone who is required to wear a tight-fitting respirator as part of their work should attend a fit test to ensure their mask provides an effective seal
Certification
A 3t Training Services report will be issued upon successful completion
Revalidation
There is no revalidation period for this training programme but refresher training is recommended every 2 years or in line with company requirements.
